My biggest pet peeve used to be tailgaters. And while they still bother me, I have another, much bigger one: people who walk between classes smoking a cigarette. If I want to avoid the smoke, I have to alter my pace to either get around them or slow way down, which si not always easy when the sidewalks are crowded. It’s really obnoxious. It is to much to ask that these people stand in one place, so that others can avoid them if they want to? I know they might only have ten minutes between class, but come on, I don’t want to smoke while I’m walking to mine.

Every time I post, I get 4-12 spam comments. (This, by the way, is why comments are moderated, so if you are a new poster, or a regular but you change your email address or name, you have to wait for me to approve you) I don’t really understand why this happens - I mean, would anyone actually click on the links below? (modified so they don’t actually get clicked from my blog)
Here’s an example:

Chocolate is currently made with cocoa butter and whole milk. Not vegetable oil and milk protein concentrates.
But that might change on Wednesday.

I’m a little mad a Hershey’s right now.

Wow! What a rush. The Austin Outlaws had their first game of the season on Saturday, hosting the Gulf Coast Herricanes. It was unseasonably cool, reminding me of what I think of as real football weather - a typically crisp and windy November night.
Only it was the middle of April. And the football? It was awesome.
This was the perfect game to start off our season. On the Herricanes first two possessions, we recovered fumbles, and our first two plays from scrimmage were touchdowns. Towards the end of the half, it was our defense that was exhausted, as we had so many rushing touchdowns on the second or third play of our drives.
After going 35-0 in the first half, we won 49-7. All of our rookies got to play, including our backup QB, who has a rocket for an arm and was able to complete a couple of passes in a row to get the jitters out.
I can’t wait until we play Dallas. In fact, I don’t plan to. I’m going up to Dallas this weekend to watch them take on last year’s runner-up, the Oklahoma City Lightning.

Don’t call me and put me on hold.
“Hello?”
“I have a call for you. Just a minute…”
*annoying, repetetive music*
I stayed on the line just to see how long it would take…
and then gave up after 15 minutes.
I mean, really. Who puts up with that?

Yesterday I was finally able to take a shower. After five days of sponge baths, I was in heaven.
I’m normally a morning shower-er, but as it takes me so long to get around and my ride this week leaves for work before the sun is up, I took my first shower yesterday evening. And I actually felt clean this morning. At least compared to the sponge baths.
In other news, I am walking around at the house, although I’m still bringing my crutches to work. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to drive by Monday. I can’t wait for my follow-up - I want to know that everything is progressing as expected. I’m still tired all the time, and despite 12 hours of sleep last night, would have no trouble sleeping all day tomorrow. But I’m sure that means my body is healing.
The first Austin Outlaws game is Saturday. I’m excited, although of course a little jealous. But I missed the scrimmage, so I can’t wait to see everyone play.

Hey all. My knee surgery went really well yesterday - thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I am in minimal pain - didn’t even need the vicodin they gave me, although I took one last night just before I went to bed, just in case it got bad during the night.
And I learned something fascinating yesterday. I was a little nauseous after the TWO percocet the nurse gave me (maybe that was why I was in no pain…) Actually, I was extremely nauseous. As in, I was going to throw up all over this poor woman at 9 o’clock in the morning, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Although I’m sure she’s seen worse. Anyway, she had just taken away my IV, so she couldn’t give me anything. Instead, she stuck an alcohol swap under my nose and told me to breathe in. Yeah, that’s right, an alcohol swab.
And it worked.
Instant nausea relief. It worked all day, in fact.
Fascinating. Has anyone ever heard of this?
